Lagos State Government to host muslims during eid-il- fitri celebrations

The Lagos State Government has unveiled a programme of events to celebrate Eid-il-Fitri with all Muslim faithful by hosting all adherents to a get-together in designated centres across the 20 Local Governments of the State. The event, tentatively scheduled for Sunday 25th June 2017, subject to sighting of the moon signalling the end of the holy month of Ramadan, will commence from 11am till 2pm at the underlisted centres  across the State: 1. Agege Stadium, Stadium Complex, Agege LG 2. Ago Hausa, Ajegunle, Ajeromi Ifelodun LG 3. Abesan Mini Stadium, Abesan Estate, Mosan–Okunola, Alimosho LG 4. FHA Field, 23 Road, Festac Town, Amuwo Odofin LG 5. United Christian Secondary School, Apapa Water Works, off Liverpool, Apapa LG 6. VIP Chalet Badagry/Ascon Road, Badagry, LG7. Marina Waterfront, Oju Alaro, Epe LG 8. Ruby Gardens, Tisco Bus stop, Eti-Osa LG 9. Iberekodo Primary School, Ibeju Lekki LG 10. Almost 100 killed in central African Republictown of Bria

As many as 100 people may have been killed in a day of clashes between rival factions in the Central African Republic town of Bria, shortly after a  truce  deal was signed, the town's mayor said. Bodies lay in the streets of Bria, around 580km northeast of the capital, Bangui, and dozens more people were treated for shotgun wounds after fighting erupted at dawn on Tuesday. "The death toll will certainly rise. For now it's an estimate and it could be up to 100 dead," Maurice Belikoussou told the Reuters news agency on Wednesday by telephone,raising an earlier death toll of "around 50". "There are still dead lying in the neighbourhoods, in the road and in the bush," he said. ALJE

The deadly Lassa feaver broke out in two local government of ondo local governments ( Owo and Akoko) of the state according to the ministry of health. The patient who was diagnosed with the disease are adult which are in their 40s. The government is taking all necessary step to curb its outbreak.

President Donald Trump on Tuesday morning denounced a federal court ruling against his travel ban, his latest criticism on the judiciary in the ongoing legal battle over his controversial executive order. "Well, as predicted, the 9th Circuit did it again - Ruled against the TRAVEL BAN at such a dangerous time in the history of our country. S.C.," he tweeted. "S.C." is an apparent reference to the Supreme Court, which Trump's Justice Department has asked to review the matter. On Monday, a three-judge panel of the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals ruled against a revised version of the executive order, using the President's tweets against him in making their decision. Lagos refutes report of plan to replace Fawehinmi, Abiola statues at Ojota Parks.

The Lagos State Government on Tuesday refuted reports that it was planning to replace the statues of late Chief MKO Abiola and late Chief Gani Fawehinmi at the Ojota parks with another monument. Acting Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Hon. Adebimpe Akinshola, while reacting to a media report that the State was planning to replace the statues, said the ongoing remodeling of both parks was to accommodate bigger sculptures of the two prominent Nigerians. According to her, “Rather than replace the two conspicuous monuments, the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture with the approval of His Excellency, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, the Governor of Lagos State, commissioned group of artistes to remodel the entire park and erect a new but bigger, better and more aesthetic sculpture of the two prominent Nigerians for better appreciation of their contribution to the development of Nigeria”. Oshodi violence Lagos suspends NURTW activities indefinitely

Following the violence that led to the death of a leader of Motorcycle Operators’ Association of Lagos State (MOALS) in Oshodi, Alhaji Rasaq Bello popularly known as Hamburger, the State Government on Monday suspended activities of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in all the seven branches in the area indefinitely. The affected branches are LOB A, LOB D, LOB J, Oshodi A, Oshodi B, Oshodi C and Oshodi D. The State Government, in a news conference jointly addressed by officials of the State, the police and NURTW at the Bagauda Kaltho Press Centre in Alausa, said while the suspension order lasts, there would be no collection of tickets/fees from commuter buses operating in the area. Addressing the briefing, the State’s Acting Commissioner for Transportation, Prince Olanrewaju Elegushi said throughout the duration of the suspension order, a team of State Government officials and security personnel would be mandated to oversee and monitor the transport operations
