Use What We Make, and Make What We Use - AsiwajuTinubu] Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

It is more than gratifying to mark my birthday in this good way. To all of you – many who have travelled great distances – I am honored that you joined me today. Though the event banners speak my name, this gathering is not about me. It is about that which a people united in purpose must do to improve their beloved country. We build the nation we seek by forcing ourselves to become that nation, day by day, step by difficult step. We do so by casting aside the prejudices of yesterday to forge a more just society where no Nigerian is held down because of his place of origin, his faith or social station. But where all have the chance to rise by dint of honest labor and constructive enterprise. This is as God intended us to be. We have no choice but to achieve this destiny. Before we go further, I give special thanks to Vice President Osinbajo. Leading a group of fellow commissioners who worked together during my time as governor of Lagos, Yemi and this creative group have turned

Messi comes to rescue of apathetic Aguero as Argentina labour to win

Image
By this point everyone is aware that despite the riches of talent available to Argentina coaches, consistent displays at the club level are not essential to make the cut. The presence of Sergio Romero and Marcos Rojo in Thursday's starting line-up demonstrated as much, as the intermittent Manchester United men took up positions at the back.  The man in the spotlight, however, belongs to the sky blue half of Manchester. Sergio Aguero put in another joyless, apathetic shift for his nation as they stumbled to a 1-0 win over Chile, and the most pertinent question is just what he was doing there in the first place.  Argentina's problem has been clear in international football for at least the last eight years. The defence is flimsy, Romero an occasionally inspired shot-stopper but vulnerable under the high ball, and the midfield short of invention unless Lionel Messi drops back to forage far from the danger zone. Five coaches have come and gone in that same period, all battli

A 66-year-old man was stabbed to death in Manhattan late Monday, police said, for one reason: being black. In the early hours of Wednesday morning, James Harris Jackson walked into an NYPD substation in Times Square and announced that he was responsible for Timothy Caughman's death. "I'm the person you're looking for," he said, adding that he had knives in his pocket. The 28-year-old Baltimore, Maryland resident took a bus to New York on March 17 with the goal of targeting black men, according to NYPD Assistant Chief, Bill Aubry. Jackson is being charged with second-degree   murder. "The attack was clearly racially motivated," Aubry said Wednesday. "It's well over 10 years he has been harboring these feelings of hate towards male blacks." Aubry said that Jackson randomly singled out   Caughman and stabbed him in the back multiple times while   Caughman was going through garbage on a Manhattan sidewalk. After the attack,

The study estimates that from 2010 to 2050, Muslims will have increased across the world by 73%, followed by Christians who are projected to grow by 35% during the same time period, and Hindus at 34%. That means that Islam -- currently the world's second-largest religion -- will surpass Christianity as the world's biggest religion by the end of the century, the study projects.

Employers allowed to ban the hijab: EU court

Image
Hijab targeted as court rules workplace bans on political and religious symbols are not discriminatory. Employers are entitled to ban staff from wearing visible religious symbols, the European Union's top law court ruled on Tuesday, a decision Muslims said was a direct attack on women wearing hijabs at work. The European Court of Justice (ECJ) said it does not constitute "direct discrimination" if a firm has an internal rule banning the wearing of "any political, philosophical or religious sign". The court gave a judgment in the cases of two women, in  France  and Belgium, who were dismissed for refusing to remove hijabs, or the headscarf worn by many Muslim women who feel it is part of their religion.

3000-Year-Old Pharaoh Ramses II Statue Found In Cairo Slum, And It’s “One Of The Most Important Discoveries Ever”

Image
A team of German and Egyptian archaeologists made a colossal discovery on March 9th – literally and figuratively. Parts of a massive, 3000-year-old statue, which is believed to depict the legendary Pharaoh Ramses II, were found buried in the Cairo slum of Matariya. The findings tell an ancient story of the world’s origins, and could start a new chapter for Egypt. The recovered bust and head of the antique statue measure 8 meters in length and are made of quartzite. The upper part of a smaller statue, depicting Pharaoh Seti II (Ramses II’s grandson), and pieces of an obelisk bearing hieroglyphics were also excavated. Experts have already begun restoring the artifacts, which will later be displayed at the Grand Egyptian Museum set to open in 2018. Ramses II is often considered to have been the greatest Pharaoh to ever rule the Egyptian Empire, and he believed that the world was created in Heliopolis, modern-day Matariya. This latest unearthing of history could help to jump-start th

Naira Again Strengthen Against Dollar At Parallel Market.

Image
According to reports, the local currency has strengthened to N462 per Dollar as against the N465 rate it was on Wednesday, March 8. The Naira also appreciated to N550 against the Pound from the previous rate of N560. However, the local currency crashed to N477 per Euro as against the previous rate of N475. At the official market, the currency remained pegged at 305.80 to the dollar. An economist, Mr Harrison Owoh has attributed the instability in the exchange rate in spite of liquidity boost in the FOREX market to excessive demand for dollars. Owoh said that the injection of 1.14 billion dollars by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to the interbank market were majorly at the service of letters of credits and invisibles. And according to him, it is the cash at hand that brings down the exchange rate not mere letters of credit. It has been gathered that a market-driven exchange rate regime is in the works, going by the federal government’s economic plan released on Tue
